Currently, the book called ”Northern Artsakh” is demonstrated at the National Library of Estonia as a part of the exhibition lasting from 01/03/2019 until 30/03/2019. As a brief historical information, there is an ongoing military conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions surrounding it. The internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan  have been occupied by the Armenian military forces. It is noteworthy to mention that the Republic of Estonia has recognised the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Although the book does not depict the official position of the Republic of Estonia, considering the sensitivity of the topic, the mere demonstration of the book at Estonian National Library has deeply disappointed the Azerbaijani youth living and studying in Estonia.

We are not against the representation of the Armenian culture in foreign countries. However, it must be noted that the irredentist views can not be a part of any culture. In the cover of the book, the occupied Azerbaijani territories are displayed as an independent Republic of Artsakh which is not recognized by any state, including the Republic of Armenia. Apart from this, other non-occupied Azerbaijani territories have been depicted as Northern Artsakh, colored in red. It is obviously a territorial claim and leads to the continuous unpleasant trend happening in the post-Soviet region, in the examples of Crimea, Abkhazia, South Ossetia etc.

By considering the serious consequences of the spread of propaganda, we demand to stop the demonstration of such books at the National Library and consider this issue in the future.
