Effective Environment Education is needed in order to protect environment. The appointment of qualified teachers is the prerequisite for quality environment education. Candidates holding Masters degree in Environment subject must be appointed as faculty members in Colleges and Universities.
India is signatory to the "Transforming our World, Agenda 2030" and committed to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. Course on Sustainable Development Goals should be made compulsory alongside Environment Studies so that a full time teacher can be appointed to teach Environment Education and Education for Sustainable Development in Colleges and Universities of India. MHRD and United Nations should ensure sufficient funding to appoint and pay salary of the appointed teachers.
