Rosemary Taylor started this petition to Education and

I,  my parents and grandparent have lost varying amounts of our hearing for different medical reasons (industrial, spinal, nervous system, dementia for eg) as we've aged. My daughter was born without hearing which changed after surgery. I and my children have friends with degrees of deafness.

Signing aids communication: for children too young to speak;  those  with speech and language difficulties; many with physical, emotional and mental health reasons; for many with autusm, for those that work in places too noisy to hear, for those with dementia,   The list goes on.

There is a group within our community who we could engage with... if it were just everyday life to  to talk with our hands... beyond waving, saying how do you do.

BSL should be freely taught and used...in lessons, assemblies, playground, lunch hall, activity clubs, home educating and alternative provision, colleges and universities  and taught as part of English/ British lessons. If we start in educational and children's activities.. with staff and children learning.. in 20 years...what a difference it would make.... think about it ...and join me in signing this petition. Thankyou.
