Demand that the SA Government Ban unnecessary Single-use Plastics
0 have signed. Let’s get to 15,000!
To stem the rising tide of single-use plastics, we need government leadership and strong intervention. The government must safeguard our precious environmental resources and public health by encouraging sustainable production and consumption through legislation that bans unnecessary single-use plastics.
- Currently 13 million tonnes of plastic leak into the ocean each year
- 50% of consumer waste is single use plastic
- 100 000 marine animals are killed by plastic each year while
- 90% of bottled water are found to contain plastic particles
This Plastic Free July, it's time to beat plastic pollution! For this to be possible, our policy makers must commit to enact robust legislation to curb the production and use of unnecessary single-use plastics.
Be a part of the change and sign the petition to put pressure on President Cyril Ramaphosa and Minister of Environmental Affairs Edna Molewa.
