Juan Jimenez, Jr., has been incarcerated for 17 years a violent crime he committed, while under the influence of alcohol and drugs when he was 20 years old.  He has been found suitable for parole by the Parole Board on two occasions, but the Governor has overturned the parole on each occasion.  My nephew is remorseful for his crime and has made significant improvement while incarcerated: with an earnest respect for the lives lost or damaged and the families and community who have been harmed, we solemnly make this request. He has accepted God into his heart and life, and this seems to have brought peace to his circumstances hoping that the community will accept him back as well.

He has taken advantage of the numerous classes offered in prison.  He has earned a GED, which took hard work and determination because he has dyslexia and a learning disability.  He completed domestic violence classes and numerous self-help groups,     He has accepted God into his heart and life, and this seems to have brought peace to his circumstances.  Regardless of how bad things get for him, he is able to find the positive in it and smile. He shows a genuine desire to share about God’s love and mercy. He would be a genuine mentor for youth in our community, who are caught up in the cycle of numbing their pain with drugs and alcohol, as he was in his youth.  Because of the noble person he has become, Juan can lend perspective and help others learn from his mistakes.

I hope you will consider his parole.  He has gone from a teenager who could barely read and write, dependent on substances- to a delightful, spiritual man. Juan has taken full responsibility for his actions and regrets the choices he has made, the pain he has caused all families and the community. Granting parole for him would mean going home to help rebuild my family as well as my community. While he can not change the choices from his past, he will make a better future. He lost not only my freedom when I was sentenced but he also lost the trust of the community. His mission in life is to live with integrity and make a difference in the life of others. He would like to thank everyone out there for your support. You bring us hope knowing someone still cares.
Please sign the petition to allow him the opportunity to become a contributing member of society.  He has served 17 years behind bars, without any incident; let’s allow him the opportunity to show society how much more he can produce.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Thank you in advance for your support, on behalf of my Friend Juan and the rest of our family and friends.
