Problem
Editors making unapproved changes to created content in order to further an agenda or send a message not within the content creator’s intent.

Solution
Editors need to have accountability back toward content creators and ensure all edits keep content messaging as close to the original content creator’s intent.

This will prevent fake news and false narratives.

Personal story
I wrote an opinion article that was given a title by an editor which caused spin and steered my content toward a message I do not approve of.

The title change makes it seem that I am advocating for hazing as opposed to my main point and intent which is drawing clear lines of differentiation of hazing and coping through the human condition and the horrors of combat with humor.

Here is a link to the article.

The original title was:
“Cultivating Potential in our Junior Enlisted”

I would like the editor to write a formal retraction and change the title to:

“Making Warriors Hard”

Signing this petition means you are taking a moral stand for writers and artists that have had their original creative content used for purposes not within the content creator’s intent.

It is time those who have the platform, power and influence to be held accountable toward how they promote and use created content within the creator’s intent.
