Stop the controlled parking plans for Portobello

Stop the controlled parking plans for Portobello
The council want to introduce CPZ (Controlled Parking Zones) in Portobello.
Portobello is predominantly residential with lots of retail and hospitality, and is a popular and busy beach. There are already existing car parks and are all free to use. Parking on all streets is free for residents and visitors.
The CPZ will have a huge impact on residents, who will either have to pay for a permit (in limited numbers), pay and display (with heavy restrictions), or risk a fine. Visitors will have to pay and display. The time restrictions on P&D will impact local businesses and remove Portobello as an accessible place to go.
These measures are not required - they are being implemented simply to make money for the council. It is a tax on Portobello residents, business owners, workers and visitors.
Please help us to make the council understand that we do not want this.
