Change outdated animal chiropractic laws in Missouri to support the animals and people.

The laws in Missouri currently require a veterinarian to directly supervise a chiropractor even when the chiropractor is fully trained in animal chiropractic and has attended an accredited animal chiropractic college. This includes when the veterinarian doesn't know anything about chiropractic. This is cost prohibitive and does not allow people to use the professional of their choice. The Founder of the profession, Dr. Sharon Willoughby, who was a veterinarian and a chiropractor, did not believe this was needed and even chose Dr. Heidi Bockhold, Chiropractor, to carry on the school and profession when she retired. We are working to change the outdated laws in Missouri to give people the choice of trained professionals to work on their animals. Chiropractors are trained to know when to refer to a veterinarian and when to use their chiropractic skills. The proposed changes would allow a chiropractor who is current in their license and is certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) or International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) to practice without supervision which then allows the people to have a choice.
