This is a petition that is looking for ECU to move to asynchronous teaching methods. It would give students that want to stay on campus and face to face the ability to do so, while also giving the students who are immune compromised the opportunity to leave campus and finish this semester online from home. This would create a safer environment on campus by lowering the amount of on campus students and students in small class environments while also maintaining job opportunity’s for on campus personnel. Covid rates are growing, not everyone wants to leave campus, but some do not feel safe, by allowing asynchronous teaching methods, ECU would be able to stay open longer than maintaining a forced in person only method of teaching. Most professors already have to put their class work online due to the amount of students forced into on and off campus isolation/quarantine. Allowing students to choose to go home and study online this semester would not change anything any of the professors are doing. GIVE ECU STUDENTS THE CHOICE, stay or go. Before they force us all to leave.
