NYC FAMILY CHILDCARE PROVIDERS ARE UNIQUE.
Small businesses without real financial stability. An unrecognized profession serving a very important role in society. A modality of care that serve low income communities in New York City. Depending on the borough and demographics the economic injustices vary.
This petition is geared towards the United Federation of Teachers, that ideally was suppose to be a mechanism for collective bargaining rights, to have a voice in state and city agencies rules and regulations for Family Childcare providers. Advocacy, for new laws that would benefit the children. Via the modality of care of Family Childcare which are members of the United Federation of Teachers.
Our world as early childhood educators in residential settings, after our hay days with UFT.
NO REPRESENTATIONS, NOR PROTECTIONS. NO DUE PROCESS,
All voices are being represented when opportunities are sent out, except for FCC.
Their is a great need to create equitable opportunities for FCC modalities to participate in discussion Ie allowing enough time for family childcare providers to look at OCFS funding, laws and things that can and will affect us.
Protecting small business owner family child care providers – Majority women the value of these services to community members - giving families sufficient subsidies to pay providers for the true value of their services
This is in essence an investment in parent choice of child care service
Defining quality and allowing for pay ladders that reflect the professional development of the providers
Incentives to growth, all modalities of child care deserve investments.
NYC FAMILY CHILDCARE PROVIDERS demand equality in representation from the UFT,
quoting a great white paper written by THE COMMITTEE FOR HISPANIC CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, INC. June 2015
