Allow Students to Decide if They Want to Take Online Classes
Even though online and hybrid classes are offered, early college students are not allowed to take them. This is because some students struggle when taking online classes instead of in person, but students create their own schedules and choose their own classes. Our goal is to allow students to choose any way of learning, as many of us learn better when online. We find it unfair that a decision has been made based off of the voices of a couple parents, of students within the program; it is up to the students, and if necessary their parents, to choose a schedule that will allow students to succeed. This is wholly unfair and unacceptable. We should be treated as adults and college students in all aspects, not just in responsibilities such as finding transportation and keeping track of their professors decisions. I sincerely hope this petition makes a difference, and allows the Early College Option program to become a more open, equal, and fair program for all students within it. May we stand together and make our stay at River Parishes Community College better for all of us.
