Mepal Outdoor Centre to remain a Leisure Centre

Mepal Outdoor Centre to remain a Leisure Centre
Why this petition matters

It has come to light these past few weeks that the council has had plans to turn Mepal outdoor centre into a crematorium. They have kept this secret from the public and the parish. A idea like this does not happen over night.
The outdoor centre closed in 2016 due to arson. In 2018 there was a report the council were working to reopen it in 2019 giving the public hope to see those high ropes again.
“This a valuable recourse not just for East Cambridgeshire but a large part of East Anglia,” said Mr Hunt."
Mepal outdoor centre was a great place to visit for all ages. It brought alot of outside visitors to the small location. It is beneficial to the surrounding with very little to do.
The council has concerns about the anti social behaviour that has happened in regards to the building left empty however havent taken on responsibility for leaving it empty, perhaps if it was restored only SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR would of occured with people having lots of fun, playing and exercising!
Please sign the petition to keep it as a leisure centre and not a crematorium.
This was a fabulous asset to CB6 and PE16 and it is a great shame. Health and wellbeing is being promoted by our government right now and the local council would like to erase a fantastic place that offered that.
It doesnt mean it has to be what it once WAS, but having the option of a leisure centre can open doors for local clubs and activities for everyone in the area.
