Allow the Easton Girls Basketball team to play in the district tournament

We have been informed that our varsity team is being excluded from district play due to their recent quarantine. Per school nurse, student athletes can resume academic classes 8-10 days after exposure, which was on 2/23. If all players are symptom free they could return to school in time to participate in districts.

Unfortunately the school is stating that athletes must wait 14 days to return to sports and PIAA rules require 3 practices before competing.

In this unique circumstance, and when our team has earned the seed in districts, we are petitioning for exceptions to these rules.

If the Easton rules are in place for return to sports 14 days, why was the Easton wrestling team allowed to return to practice day 7 after a negative test day 5? They were allowed to return to competition before the 14 day mandated quarantine was up.

We understand that safety is a top priority, yet want to see healthy athletes play. This season has been difficult and disappointing for our athletes and if they can play safely, we want them to do so.

Please sign the petition if you feel the same way. This petition will be presented to the PIAA Committee Members, the Easton School District Superintendent, the Easton High School Principal, the Easton Athletic Director and the Easton School Board on Monday, March 1.

PLEASE SHARE AND SIGN TODAY!!! OUR GIRLS DESERVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER EASTON ATHLETE.
