Marley Dalton started this petition to Hampshire County Council

Recently our property as well as 3 others on our road were burgled in Desborough Road, Eastleigh SO50. Police resources are slim, which caused an officer to arrive at the scene 5 hours after the incident occurred, resulting in all DNA evidence being washed away in the morning rain.

This left us hoping for local CCTV, as growing up in Eastleigh I'd grown to know our little town, it felt safe, a place to call 'home', that homely feeling when your neighbour or local would say 'morning' as you strolled to work. Someone in our town broke that trust, and unfortunately I'll never be able to gain that back. It's not what's been stolen that hurts, what's causes me distress is the fact someone was in my home and I cant get my head around it. The night before I turned off my wax melts, spritzed the house, let the dogs out, locked up and went to bed like I do every night. I wont be doing that anymore, I'll be anxious, stirring at every noise, creek, twitch, wondering will I find turn over and find someone in the room? This time will my animals be gone? Will I come down to find the love of my life dead? I now have to live my life in constant worry, with my head over my shoulder. I dont want to look at people in the street, questioning whether its them and they know who I am from the photos in my home, that they were in my sanctuary and violated it. I never thought somewhere I'd feel safe, could make me feel so insecure and vulnerable. I feel like my walls have been knocked down. I never want anyone else to feel like that and I wouldn't wish it on my enemy, I've never experience such intense anxiety.

On the 23rd February 12 days after the incident we recieved an email from Hampshire Police "I have reviewed the cctv to the rear of your home that covers the alley way, unfortunately when the lights go out it is pitch black on the cameras and nothing can be seen". So that's it, case closed, well at least until any more evidence comes to light, which isn't likely as we alike many others in Eastleigh in the past 6 months have had their privacy and homes invaded by strangers and will never get justice. The amount of properties that have been burgled, had extensions, sheds or garages broken into is astonishing, but our councils seem to believe that our lights being off hasnt caused such an incline in crime within the last year, let alone month. But if our dark streets are causing our CCTV systems installed by authorities to be obstructed then surely the time is now for change, the time is now for justice, It's what so many of us deserve.

The CCTV put in place by our local authorities to keep us safe is being obstructed by the light dim/switch off between 1am and 4am. I'm don't want another person to feel unsafe in their home, nor in our town.

Please sign this petition to have your voice recognised by our Local Councils, so hopefully in turn we can have our street lights turned back on for our towns safety and wellbeing.
