The Greg Adams Tennis Center was built in 1977 to honor a local athlete who was paralyzed after an athletic injury. It has provided Richmond, KY and the surrounding communities with a place to play tennis during the fall and winter months. Countless numbers of players have fallen in love with the game, grown their love of the game, earned thousands of scholarship dollars, and improved their overall health and well-being through their use of the facility. I personally have played there for almost thirty years. It's like my second home. The re-purpose of this facility by EKU would not only impact the current members of the community, it would serve as a detrimental step backwards in the growth of tennis in Central and Southeastern Kentucky and make it much harder for future generations to get to know the sport which has given so much to the area.
