If the facility was gifted for public use then that is how it should remain.

On a number of occasions I have travelled 50 mile round trip just to play tennis here. It was inspiring and an opportunity that should be open to our tennis players who wish to make the effort.

Refusing public and club access to lawn tennis in Eastbourne surely goes against the spirit of the original gift. Restricting access to commercial tournaments only effectively removes the facility from the people of Eastbourne, surely the intended recipients of the original gift. Lawn tennis will become the sport of the elite, and local talent will have nowhere to hone their skills. Shame on you Eastbourne Borough Council.

Its a local resource with a long history. To have it empty and not used for such a large part of the year is a waste. EBC should liaise with LTA to find a way to keep club open to Eastbourne public without having to spend a lot of money. Good luck with your campaign Ken.

Tennis begins at the grass routes stages.. closing this venue to the public will be detrimental to tennis in the UK and send the wrong message that the game is all about professionals and commercial gain

Played here as a junior and as an adult member. Must be preserved for the next generations not just the elite

I’m signing to stop these council from taking away amenities that the public deserve, think about reducing your wages of your chairman and his deputies.

I would like to play tennis at Devonshire Park, as I used to, as a club member and member of the public who lives in Eastbourne and pays council tax there.
