Carla Zambelli started this petition to East Whiteland Township

Public comment at Supervisors Meetings used to be early on in the meetings. They are now practically the LAST item on the agenda.

Transparency and public participation are important parts of any democracy.

By moving public comment to practically the last thing on the agenda, East Whiteland  Township is sending a negative message to her residents.  East Whiteland  is telling residents  they don’t really want to hear from them and that they don’t really want public participation or residents’ thoughts on any topic.

By moving public comment to practically the last thing on the agenda East Whiteland Supervisors are telling the plurality that what they have to say is not something they want to hear.

A lot of times people who come to meetings are either elderly and don’t like to stay out late, or May also be people with young children who need to get home to them and/or relieve babysitters. Public comment used to be in the beginning portions of every meeting until around September 2018, and over the last few months they have moved it back further and further until it is almost the last thing.

We the residents of East Whiteland wish to be heard on this issue of public comment and participation. We want public comment moved BACK to the beginning of the meetings. We deserve to be heard.
