At East Surry High, we love socializing. Covid unfortunately took a big hit on our socializing time by pushing a lot of things back. Our lunch is one of the best ways that we socialize with others, we are able to laugh, sit, and enjoy our friends. Sadly, we must wait in the lunch line for 10-15 minutes waiting on lunch, when we get to the point where we are able to socialize with our friends, we only have 10 minutes left to eat and we are not able to finish our meal. Most students and staff at East Surry High have openly complained about the short lunch times. Therefore, this leaves us unfocused, angry, and in a bad mood for the rest of the day since we weren't able to finish our meal nor talk to our friends. Some kids can not afford meals at home and are forced to only eat school meals, and they may not finish their food. In conclusion, we (Students and Staff) believe that the lunch times should be extended by 5-10 minutes so we are able to put the good energy in and get the bad energy out!
