This petition aims to create a safer environment for residents in Walkington Village. Currently there is no street lighting provision or pavements along a large section of Townend Road in the north of the village. Many children have to return home from school in complete darkness often having to step into the hedgerow to keep away from cars that cannot see them. In addition to this, many residents walk along this road throughout the day time and evening. Many dog walkers use this section of road as it links to Middlehowe Road (popular route due to low traffic). Traffic is constant along this route. If this issue is not resolved I believe it will only be a matter of time before an accident happens.
