Abolish Coastal Car Parking Charges in East Lothian

East Lothian Council spent nearly £900,000 on implementing coastal car parking charges in East Lothian. Charging has been in place 18 months and has raised only £180,000 - budgeted income was £400,000 per year by the Labour Tory administration.
At the income rate of £10,000 per month its will take 9 years just to repay the initial implementation costs- this doesn't include cost for maintenance, wardens or investing in facilities.
Income figure was budgeted on 500,000 vehicles- only 150,000 vehicles have passed through in the last 18 months- a massive drop off in people using the beaches and bringing money in the county.
