Adam Subora started this petition to East Lansing Parking Division - Michigan District Court 54B

East Lansing employees are forced to park in parking structures and lots, with are either $1.50/hour or $85 month for the cheapest of monthly passes. Many workers are struggling college students, forced to pay for parking to keep working, even after this long hard year. Many employees make minimum wage, meaning that parking costs about an hour of labor every shift if not more. The city has more than enough parking ramp spaces, and the prices of tickets is only increasing. We would like the freedom to work without having to worry about the additional cost of parking.

Road parking is only allowed for 2 hours at a time, and violating this almost guarantees a $35 ticket, or almost 4 hours of labor.

East Lansing rent is already extremely high, and to afford to put yourself through college and pay rent, you have to work almost full time. This is hard enough without forking over our hard earned money for parking.

Getting rid of this barrier to work downtown would help bring a much needed workforce back to the city after the pandemic, increase income tax revenue for the city, and lower the amount of parking violations for the court.
