Surrey Bees Training started this petition to East Hants District Council

The right to have bees on the land we own (and purchased specifically for that purpose) at Headley Road, Liphook (both belonging to Surrey Bees Training and members of Surrey Bees Training) with no limitations on numbers. Bees are pollinators and pollinate 70% of our trees and provide us with 1 in every 3 mouthful of food we eat.

Honey Bees will not attack unless they are being attacked. They die when they sting so only do so to defend their colony.

East Hants council wants to limit numbers, making it difficult for us to operate as Bee Farmers. We use this site to rear baby hives for new beekeepers who we train.

We also have several members hives on this site who would have to give up beekeeping as they don’t have a garden, or they have special needs / mental issues and this site provides them with people to support them.  Beekeeping is seen as a great pastime to relax and calm people with mental issues.

The UKs Youngest Qualified Beekeeper (passed at aged 5) who we trained, also has his bees here.

They want us to move the remaining hives during the active season to another place in the field. If we did this we would kill livestock, 1000’s of bees would die as they would return to their original site home.
