Metung Needs A Skatepark
This petition had 99 supporters
The current lack of organised sports and safe designated areas where children and youth in Metung can enjoy wheel-based activities is placing our young people at greater risk of poor health, as well as placing parents under pressure to ensure their kids have access to regular sport and recreation opportunities. A skatepark in Metung has the potential to reduce these health risks, alleviate some burdens on parents, and benefit the community. A skatepark will provide Metung with an additional attraction that ensures the kids have somewhere to safely ride their wheels (bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, rollerskates) for an extended period of time. If designed properly, it will also be a place where families can cook a BBQ and enjoy a meal, and truly immerse themselves in the town. And by providing families with attractions and facilities that encourage them to stay in the town for longer, the result is typically greater expenditure in the local stores, and positive word-of-mouth referrals so that residents, visitors and their friends will visit again. Additionally, a facility like this will also serve as an attraction for young families looking to relocate to the region.
