United States of America holds its head high before the world as the beacon of true democracy - offering everyone rightful person the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, while putting measures to deter and punish individuals, organizations or institutions who are taking economic advantage of everyday hard working citizens around the globe. This has earned the United States the glory and responsibility it shoulders before the commity of nations.

People all over the world have always looked up to the United States of America and its institutions as a model in almost all spheres of human endeavour. However, Africans, especially Nigerians around the world were utterly flabbergasted and disappointed with the news that the reputable East Carolina University deemed it fit to confer on the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje the esteemed privilege of being a visiting professor at the university. Abdullahi Ganduje is a serving governor in Nigeria, who was caught in a video camera recording criminally collecting wraps of US dollars as bribes and kickbacks from contractors and stuffing same in his dress (https://youtu.be/MGCvXTISNns and https://www.thecable.ng/video-another-video-of-ganduje-allegedly-collecting-kick-back-surfaces/amp This criminal acts, which is against the money laundering act, was met with wide outrage in Nigeria and the governor was sued to court. However, he used his political influence and immunity to influence the legal outcomes of the court process in his favour.

We therefore use this petition to request that the award to Abdullahi Ganduje be immediately rescinded. We believe that the East Carolina University should have known better that their actions are directly/tacitly condoningre-enforcing such criminal behaviours and bringing you to a disreputable status before the world. We would rather believe that this award was done in error and not conclude that East Carolina University is supporting and rewarding African political leaders for impoverishing their citizens for their selfish motives.
