Camille Bacon started this petition to East Brunswick School Board

Nearly 5,500 high schools nationwide have decided to use solar panels for their high schools. With energy costs increasing and solar installation prices decreasing, solar panel systems is the direction most schools are predicted to go towards in the coming years. Establishing a solar panel system for EBHS would allow great financial savings in terms of electricity. It not only increases the property value but also decreases the utility energy usage on a much wider scale, impacting the surrounding school community. With East Brunswick High School's flat roof, the solar panels would be most effective and wouldn't have to take up any excess space in the surrounding area. The cost of installation is only a fraction of the money we can save as a school with solar panels. During this time in school, there is a major shift from tangible school materials to more technology-based materials. Now more than ever we need a cost-effective and sustainable energy source. By creating a solar panel system for EBHS more money can be put towards education and materials, that were previously being put towards electric bills. Solar panels also provide a learning opportunity for the students who attend that school, since they are visible and can be used to teach kids up close about sustainable energy sources. Solar Panels would work towards reducing EBHS's carbon footprint and overall make our school more green!
