With the recommencement of in-person visits in Correctional Facilities across N.S.W, new visitation requirements have since been put in place.

As stated by the Department of Communities and Justice, "To be eligible for an in-person visit, all visitors must be triple vaccinated at least 3 days prior to the date of the visit, this requirement applies to children aged 16 years and above aswell. Children under the age of 16 will not be permitted to visit at this time."

For starters, the Booster shot has not been mandated at a state or national level, unless you work in aged care; so hence, what right does the system have to deny family & friends visitation rights if they have not received this 3rd booster shot?!

Secondly, the denial of visitation rights for those under the age of 16 is discrimatory and unjust. Children should have as much right as everybody else to be able to visit their loved ones, regardless of age and vaccination status.

We ask that Corrective Services NSW, urgently revises their visitation requirements and dismisses the need for proof of triple vaccination status and allows everyone, regardless of their age, visitation rights.
