Early Class Suspension in Cavite

During heavy rainfall, classes are automatically suspended on affected areas where Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) declares storm signals. During the absence of signal warnings, the local government units (LGUs) are the one who decide the cancellation of classes. However, suspensions are failed to be announced ahead of time before some students go to school.
There are students in Cavite whose class starts as early as 6:00 in the morning, and there are some who needs to travel distance from their houses to school. For the reason that students might be late, they will rush out in the rain because they can no longer wait for the announcement of class suspensions. Many are really frustrated that classes are suspended when they are already in the middle of the trip and some have already reached the school.
This is the common scenario for most of the students. There are even instances where some are stranded on some particular places waiting for the rain to stop. Time, money and effort are wasted. Even their safety is at risk because, who knows what might happen?
Early class suspension will not make students to be lazy but it will increase their safety. Consider those students who are far from their schools, and how will their parents feel whenever they will let their children to go out in the middle of a heavy rain.
With this, we, students from Tanza National Comprehensive High School, ask for an early announcement in the morning as soon as possible, whether the classes will be suspended or not. Join us by signing this petition!
