E*TRADE Financial Corp: Remove dangerous cribs from the E*TRADE Baby ads.

Bobby was exactly six months and three days old when the side rail of his drop-side crib came loose, entrapping and suffocating him between the mattress and rail. That day Bobby became one of the dozens of infants that have been killed by drop-side cribs since 1999. It took years of tireless work and dedication from child safety organizations, government agencies, and concerned citizens like Bobby’s family, but in 2011 a national ban on drop-side cribs went into effect in order to ensure that no US family ever had to go through the pain Bobby’s family had to ever again.
A full two years later, the E*TRADE Baby can be seen on millions of TV screens happily talking about portfolios and stock options inside a very dangerous drop-side crib surrounded by controversial crib bumper pads that have also been linked to multiple deaths and are currently banned in Chicago and Maryland.
It’s true that the E*TRADE Baby ads are funny, but dangerous cribs and the grief they cause are no laughing matter. Child safety experts and government agencies across the country, as well as families who have experienced the tragedy of losing an infant to dangerous cribs, agree that ads like these are harmful. The images of a happy child in a dangerous crib can confuse caregivers and give the impression that what is dangerous is actually safe.
We can't afford ads that make dangerous cribs seem normal.
All we ask is that E*TRADE remove the dangerous crib from its ads. After all, a talking baby is just as funny in a safe crib, right?
