This young woman needs freedom. Self defense isn't wrong at all, especially when she was being racially abused by others. She needed to find a way to help herself. To fight back. She did exactly that for her own sake, but she continues to face an unreachable freedom. People, please sign this petition as well as other petitions too.

I am signing this petition because this case is an atrocious example of how not only everyday, violent racism but also institutional racism can alter someone’s life forever. Siyanda is a woman, human, a life, who deserves to be treated with respect and consideration. She was not, and that is appalling.

Institutional racism is alive and literally kicking black people despite the Sewell report that refuses to recognise its prevalence and centrality in black lives.

Institutional racism within the police and the justice system must be tackled.
