Progressive representatives Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, Andre Carson, Delia Ramirez, Summer Lee and others have recently sponsored U.S. House resolution 786, which calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Israeli government is engaging in an all out assault against civilians. Just this morning, Israel launched a ground operation, ramped up their bombardment and blocked all communications from Gaza. The U.S. working class must address our government's role and responsibility in this senseless violence abroad. We must advocate for a ceasefire, a demand that the Biden administration and pro-Zionist forces are fighting to silence. We are urging U.S. House Rep Dwight Evans, who serves a large portion of Philadelphia, to sign onto H.Res.786 to amplify the call for peace in Occupied Palestine. Israel's dehumanization of Palestinians contributes to the global rise in racism and Islamophobia which we have seen throughout the U.S. and in our city. Additionally, Jews who dare stand side by side with Palestinians are having their faith questioned and arrested during protests. If Dwight Evans wishes to be re-elected as one of Philadelphia's U.S. House representatives, then he must listen to Philadelphians who've marched by the thousands demanding justice for Palestinians.
