Ellie Nugent started this petition to DVSA and

As everybody knows you have two years from passing your theory test to pass your practical driving test.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic and multiple lockdowns, pupils like myself have not been able to undertake driving lessons or practical driving tests since last year.
This means from March 2020 - present no pupils have been able to proceed or advance to taking or passing their practical driving test through no fault of their own.

The response to this was:

“The maximum duration of two years between passing the theory test and practical test is in place for road safety reasons and the Government has no current plans to lay legislation to extend it.”

I believe this is highly immoral that we must pay  to retake our theory test as this situation was completely out of our hands. What if we retake the test, pass and then enter lockdown number 4, 5 and 6?? Must we pay again risking that we will be back to square one? Is it fair that pupils are being penalised for the current circumstances in the UK at the moment? Some people including myself have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic and through so much negativity this past year, this was something I was actually looking forward to. Being able to start where I left off knowing I was so close to the practical test was the light at the end of the tunnel so to be told no is something I cannot comprehend. To not be given a fair chance is so unfair, we should feel supported in trying to better ourselves not knocked back down to square one!
Please sign and share this petition not only if you are in my position but if you feel this situation is wrong too!
