With rising case numbers and the omicron variant it is easy to become scared of these unprecedented times. But we must not let it effect our children and their future. Various studies have shown the negative effect at home learning has had on students mental, social, and physical health, along with the effect on their focus and grades. It is our responsibility to put the health of our children and citizens first, but if people follow the guidelines the cases would reduce. We should continue to take proper precautions but we should not let our fear cloud our judgement. I have witnessed, first hand, the devastating impact of social disconnect over the period of shelter in place. Take action, sign the petition, email your local school board rep and ask them to vote against the shut down of schools, and advocate for the future generation and their education.
