Work for Wiseman

This petition had 19 supporters

Dr. Rachael Wiseman is currently an Addison Wheeler Research Fellow within the Durham University Philosophy Department. She is currently working on a variety of research projects including the In Parenthesis Project; the applied aspect of the In Parenthesis Project has focused on broadening participation within the field of philosophy. Alongside Dr. Clare Mac Cumhaill, Rachael has been enormously successful in broadening participation amongst philosophy undergraduates from underrepresented social groups, as well as raising awareness of these important issues. The increase in confidence and consequent interest in philosophy which Rachael's work has inspired has had a profound and overwhelmingly positive influence on this year's philosophy graduating cohort. The Undergraduate Philosophy Society as well as the Undergraduate In Parenthesis reading group here at Durham are without doubt indebted to Rachael for her continuing support, direction and contributions.

At this point in time, Rachael's research fellowship is set to expire in September; with no measure in place to ensure that she is enabled to continue the positive influence that she has had on students and philosophy alike in future. Through her involvement with students as well as her unique and insightful work on Anscombe, Wittgenstein and Ethics more broadly, Rachael has proven herself to be a great asset to the Philosophy Department here at Durham. This petition thereby states first and foremost that it would be the greatest shame if future students were not given the opportunity to flourish under her influence as we all have. Please sign to ensure work for Wiseman!
