Mary James started this petition to Durham University and

In most of our modules for year one psychology, action has been taken to mitigate the effects of industrial strike action on our assessments. This includes allowing students to have the best out of two marks in a multiple-choice end-of-year exam, depending on whether they scored better when answering questions related to missed content or not.

We petition the psychology department at Durham University to do the same for our Intro to Psychological Research module. One of the practicals that was going to be our for our summative has been cancelled, and at the very least not enough have been held that everyone could attend. People who did not know that previous practicals were going to be the basis of summatives may, therefore, be disadvantaged if they couldn't attend. Due to strike action, we have been unable to contact the necessary people with regards to this in order to get reassurance.

Similarly, we have been writing and completing a summative whilst strike action has been carried out without having the same access to academic staff as we normally would when completing a summative report.

We ask the department to mitigate the effects of this confusion by allowing everyone who has completed all of the lab reports by the end of the year, to receive the highest two marks for each report - and these will be considered the summatives.
