Help Preserve Port Perry's Cultural Heritage

Dear residents and friends of Port Perry,

The owner of 289 North Street, Port Perry, has submitted a Consent Application to the Regional Municipality of Durham Land Division Committee requesting the severance of the lot into three residential parcels of land each to contain a single family dwelling.

As you can imagine, if approved, such land division will have significant impact on the cultural heritage of the neighbourhood.  The proposed changes do not respect local context, street pattern or the scale and proportions of the surrounding lots, and would be entirely out of context of the area, to the detriment of the local environment.  More immediate concerns arise in regards to environmental and drainage issues as well as a reduction of privacy, loss of shade and screening due to the removal of trees to accommodate the creation of new houses which will ultimately affect the property value of the surrounding properties.

We ask that the Regional Municipality of Durham Land Division Committee deny Consent Application LD163-164/2017 and help preserve the cultural heritage and unique architectural character of the neighbourhood and community.
