PETITION TO STOP REZONING

PETITION TO STOP REZONING
Why this petition matters

The communities of Merrick-Moore, North East Hills, Milan Woods, and Landon Farms will be negatively impacted by the efforts to rezone Case: 2720 Faucette Avenue Z1900021, and associated annexation Case: BDG1900012. The property that is currently being proposed for rezoning will be negatively impacted by a higher density rezoning distinction. This 101.5 acre plot of land, which is primarily an ecologically sensitive area will be negatively impacted by this rezoning effort. If this area should be developed, it should retain its Residential Rural distinction, and the delineated steams and wetlands should remain in tact. Furthermore, a more comprehensive traffic impact study should be performed, as it pertains to Geer Road and Cheek Road. These are already extremely congested streets. Lastly, the 4 dead-end streets, or “stubs”, Cone Avenue, Logan Street, Rachel Avenue, and Faucette Drive, which would serve as the majority of access, should be reconsidered. With only 1 new access point being provided by Horvath and Assoc., these smaller neighborhoods of North East Hills, and Milan Woods, will not be able to sustain the traffic impact associated with such a development. We are asking you to refrain from rezoning, and preserve this sensitive habitat, by retaining the original Residential Rural zoning distinction.
