Make Chapel Hill Carrboro pedestrian friendly

We believe that Chapel Hill and Carrboro need to provide many options to help residents move from place to place safely. In light of the recent deaths of two of our neighbors, partially due to unsafe walking conditions, there is a renewed urgency to see more options. In addition to designing safer streets with better lighting, buffered bike lanes and more crosswalks, we are in support of the completion of a handicap accessible greenway from northern Carrboro to southern Chapel Hill. Handicap accessible greenways are an equitable way to help our bike and ped-dependent neighbors safely travel, our children get from home to school and back safely, and provide recreational opportunities for all regardless of ability. We'd like to see Phases 3 and 4 of the Bolin Creek Trail move ahead and we look forward to participating in Carrboro's coming public engagement period to assist with this.
