Ambuja Wetland situated in heart of Durgapur, an industrial city of West Bengal, India. As per our survey (Birding Durgapur group), it was the home to more than 60 species of birds (16 aquatic bird species), more than 20 species of butterflies and dragonflies. Thousands of ducks-gathering in winter attracts many photographers and nature lovers. But sadly, nowadays, most of the lake covered by aquatic plants and macrophytes due to huge anthropogenic allochthonous nutrient input (mostly in the form of garbage and stool). Water turns to black. Problems of mosquito becoming prevalent. Biodiversity decreased greatly since last three years. Till date, the local authority didn't take any step towards the restoration of the wetland. We will be pleased to concerned authorities if they fulfill their duties to the citizen of Durgapur by restoring the wetland to a healthy state. We need our heaven back.
