We the undersigned, are concerned students who urge the management of Durban University of Technology to reconsider their decision to dismiss/early retire Mrs. S. Foolchand. 

This petition has been initiated by the third year Business Analysis Project 3 students. We are highly concerned about management's decision to dismiss/early retire our lecturer for this module. 

Business Analysis Project 3 is an annual module and we are still busy with completing our work for the project. We have upcoming due dates, one of them being on Monday 16 August 2021. Some groups are still in the process of consultations and queries for their work. This decision is going to have a devastating impact on us students and the progress we have made with our work thus far. 

It is really unfair that our best interests have not been considered at all by management. We were not informed that such a decision would be taken now. We are already midway through August and have now been told we will not have a lecturer anymore. The second semester begins only in September so we would have to wait a very long time before any directive is given to us, if at all. This puts us in a very difficult situation. 

Mrs. S. Foolchand has been with us since the beginning of the year with our project. At this stage we cannot afford to have a new lecturer who is unfamiliar with the content and plan for the module. This is a crucial time for us as third year students as we are nearing the end of the year and our studies. 

As our previous and current lecturer Mrs. S. Foolchand has always gone above and beyond in guiding and providing help to us as her students. She is a seasoned and well experienced lecturer and we urge Durban University of Technology to reconsider their decision and reinstate Mrs. S. Foolchand to our module.
