Thomas Shelby started this petition to Durant OK Kids Baseball Board Members and

Justin Alberda, Commissioner of the Durant OK Kids Baseball League, has been under attack from radical parents and coaches associated with just one or two of the many teams registered in the league.

Accusations made by these individuals range from refusal to hear complaints, bullying, illegal recruiting practices, banning citizens from social media groups, misappropriation of funds, and making fun of disabled children.

These accusations are being generated by a small group of adults who believe they can taint the reputation of a volunteer / leader and, as a result, cause him to either step down or be removed as league commissioner.  These individuals are attempting to paint Mr. Alberda as an unfair or biased individual because of decisions that were made that did not align with their opinions or agenda.  These decisions were collective rulings made by a seven person board, not a power hungry Commissioner serving his own self interest.

During Justin's time as league commissioner, the Durant baseball league has grown and advanced in countless ways.  He has modernized and streamlined every facet of the league. Registration, communication, scheduling and sponsorship are all managed through a league website and a partnership with SportsEngine.  Gone are the days of paper sign-ups and countless hours sorting through paperwork.  The league can now connect / communicate with coaches and parents via Facebook or through the SportsEngine App.  Additionally, Justin has invested countless hours scheduling and hosting many baseball tournaments that generated revenue for area businesses as well as the city.  Since Justin began his duties as commissioner, Durant has become a legitimate destination for teams outside of OK Kids to visit and compete.  Our boys are gaining exposure and building experience playing against a variety of opponents.  Every effort that he and his team of volunteers has led has been for the benefit of the kids.  Every decision that he and his team have made has been made after weighing every option and considering every result.

The personal attacks that have been directed at Justin are more than just unfair or unreasonable.  They are a direct attack on the character of a man who is giving his time to try and create safe, competitive environment for our children to develop as players, teammates,  and citizens.  Please show your support for Justin and his team by signing and sharing this petition to retain him as Commissioner of the Durant baseball league.

There will be an open meeting to discuss these allegations and any other concerns at 6PM on Thursday, January 17th at the Durant Public Library.  Please feel free to go by and show your support.
