As a mother of 2 Duplin County students the mask mandate should be made optional or parents choice. The children are suffering mentally, emotionally and developmentally with the restrictions the masks are making on their daily school lives. Students are beginning to develop nose bleeds, breakouts,  and numerous other health issues. A parent and the childrens doctors know what is best for each individual child and the board of education should not be allowed to make a medical decision for such a vast number of children that they truly do not know personally or medically. The county has come up with what they deemed fit of a covid screening however many schools are no longer doing temperature checks. Which means they are no longer following their own protocols.  As parents we should be making these types of decision for our children not Doctor O and definitely not the Duplin County Board of Education.
