Ban or restrict the use of residential pesticides in the Cowichan Valley
Where does our fate lie? Not surprisingly, the successful survival of our pollinators will decide this. Pesticides continue to be a threat to our local and international pollinators - effectively putting our food sources at great risk. A small group of us is working to place a ban or restriction on the use of pesticides in the Cowichan Valley. It is true that the survival of our pollinators is crucial to both us and future generations - The David Suzuki Foundation states that "88% of plants depend upon pollinators for propagation, and the trend of bee death rate is only increasing every year. Pollination Canada says that 36.3% of overall bees in Canada died between September 2007-2008. It is up to us to stop this destructive trend and preserve our future.
Please help us stop this devastating practice before it's too late.
