Object to Children's Home at Everley Rest Home
Plans to change Everley Rest Home in Lyde Green from a place for the elderly to a home for 10 children and young adults in the care of Local Authorities outside of Dudley have been submitted.
Many objections have been raised including residents, your local councillor, MP and the Police. The reasons for objection are wide ranging and include the following
An increase in crime and the likelihood that Criminals associated with County Lines will target the home and area.
Nadhim Zahawi MP when he was Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families advised all Local Authorities,
“While I recognise the challenges that exist, I know that you will share my view that despite them we must do as much as we can to ensure that young people are not placed in settings that expose them to a range of safeguarding risks, such as CSE and becoming involved in County Lines.”
Local residents are very frightened; there is a Nursery opposite the Home and two Primary Schools withn 400 yards.
The company itself states, “young people in the home may be at risk of absconding, sexual exploitation, offending behaviours, non-engagement in education, self-harming behaviours. And may in their past have been subjects of/witnesses to physical, emotional, sexual abuse, neglect and domestic violence.”
I am asking that you support local residents in their objections to this application and reduce their worries and fears
