An improvement of security cameras and more frequent police patrols in Dudley are needed.
Crime rates across Dudley have rocketed during lockdown, new police data has revealed.
In April - the most recent stats available - there were 2,167 crimes reported to West Midlands Police, compared to 2,075 in March.
That was an increase of 4.43 per cent.
Violence and sexual offences remain the most-reported crimes in the area as a whole.
An increase and improvement of both security cameras located around Dudley and Police patrols to prevent more of these crimes taking place in the communities in Dudley are needed, especially those that are highly exposed to crime. The citizens of Dudley can create community/ neighbourhood watch groups to secure more safety around Dudley, and to also report any crime that they see taking place. But this is not enough to ensure that safety needed for those who live there.
“Between December 30 and January 1 a total of 45,719 detainees were booked into custody facilities. It included 1,527 robbery suspects, 1,692 people arrested for burglary and 1,285 were held for questioning over vehicle crimes.” —Express and Star, 1st January 2021
