Dublin City Council - Fair election process & stop violation of CVRA now
To all the residents of Dublin, CA:
PLEASE ASK Dublin City Council ASAP to resolve the lawsuit on the City for violating California Voting Rights Act (CVRA) soon and implement the district-based election for November 2022 election cycle.
Dublin City has been in violation of California Voting Rights Act for many years now and their slow action on this will prolong the violation into 2024.
The California Voting Rights Act is to ensure that we have a fair election process. In January, Dublin City was asked to follow cities like Pleasanton and San Ramon by transitioning our city to district-based elections. On February 15th, City Council made a resolution that this will happen. California bill AB 350 outlines the timeline and number of public hearings to implement district-based election. Unfortunately, the City seems to be violating that law as well by opting for a slow process.
If the city does not comply with the ordinance, another lawsuit with increased liability will follow and we (residents / taxpayers) will have to pay any legal fees that the city incurs because they are not following state law. As residents of Dublin, we don’t want to delay on complying with the law so, it is upon us to contact the city and request they hold the hearings and have a demographer.
Please sign this petition and also contact City Council in one of the ways described here: https://bit.ly/dublincc-cvra-violation
NOTE: Voce of Dublin is NOT FUNDRAISING with this petition initiative at this time (any donations made will go to change.org to support their operations)
