Alex Gallegos started this petition to Drexel University

It is important that Drexel students sign this petition using their Drexel email in order to allow administration to confirm that this sentiment comes from the student body.

As colleges and universities across the nation modify their policies in order to support their student body during the COVID-19 crisis, Drexel University has not taken enough steps to ease the burden that next term will have on everyone. As of now, Drexel’s official policy is to continue with their normal grading system and tuition costs for Spring term. These policies are out of touch with the realities of student life at the current time.

As a result of these concerns, we are calling on Drexel University to take additional steps to support the student population and make accommodations for students facing unprecedented hardship. These necessary steps are to:

  • Reduce tuition and university fees for next term in accordance with the services rendered inaccessible to students
    • Increase transparency about where tuition and fee money goes and how it benefits students’ education
    • Offer greater financial aid for students suffering lost income and uncertainty with upcoming co-op positions
    • Increase virtual work study and student employment opportunities for students who rely on employment on campus
  • Revisit the grading system for Spring term and create an optional, opt-in pass/fail system to allow greater flexibility for students
    • Ensure that pass/fail classes will still satisfy major requirements
    • Provide support for students who need to access to accommodations due to lack of resources such as internet access, computers, housing, and food
    • Provide more clarity on resources for students with disability accommodations
