Alumni should have a say! The name honors Revolutionary War fighters. Isn't it about time that the liberal bias agenda cease instead of continuing to run rampant in the mainstream media to distort, falsity and twist things out of context? As the article states: "it was meant to represent the “revolutionary” approach to education at the school, which included short class periods" Additionally, when I attended, they had the "open concept" which was a diversion from the norms of classroom with 4 walls a ceiling. Not only that but when I attended Juanita High School our principal was African American (Mr. Walker). I am sure, being the outspoken he was, that if he had objections, he would have voiced them.

I honestly don't care if they keep the mascot or not. What annoys me is that through the years the original mascot was somehow changed and is now being misrepresented. Why on earth would anybody think that a southern symbol was chosen to represent a school in Washington? Change it if you want but, you might take the time to do the research before you do.

The name Rebels has nothing to do with the south...it has everything to do with the open concept of Juanita in her beginning years

My dad taught at Juanita High School and I attended along with all of my siblings. My class was proud to be the first to attend all four years at JHS. The Rebel spirit was about breaking away from the status quo. I will always be a Rebel at heart.

This is not a case of confederate states and the south in the civil war. The Rebels were names such because of the revolutionary war and departing from england. There is absolutely NO reason to change the mascot
