The removal of negative marking for the ELEC3104 lab quizzes

The number of students obtaining a negative mark for the ELEC3104 quizzes is large. As such, there has been an overwhelming incentive by majority of the students to not undertake any of the subsequent lab quizzes in order to ensure their course WAM is not capped to a lower maximum WAM.
While the only consequence seems to be the students' final course WAM, it also means an overall demotivation for the study of the subject for assessments. It drives a negative view for the subject matter of the ELEC3104 course and also for the course convenor (especially in the final lecturer evaluation).
We believe it is in the best interest of Dr. Vidhyasaharan Sethu to change the marking for the assessment to the conventional marking scheme. That is, get no marks for getting a question wrong or skipping it and a mark for getting it right.
