Indians in Liberia started this petition to Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar External Affairs Minister (Ministry of external affairs)

Sir/Madam,

Indians residing in Liberia and Supporters of India Liberia relationship convey utmost regards and respects to the BJP government and express gratitude to  the Honorable Prime Minister of India Mananiy Narendra Modiji for the announcement made in 2018 that 18 Indian missions will be opened in Africa where there are no Indian embassies, which including Liberia among others. The Indian community in Liberia is most excited with the news as they eagerly wait to see the Indian tri color being unfurled on the Liberian soil. However the Indian Community was expecting Liberia will be among the first 2-3 in the priority list.

On the 2019 budget Honorable finance minister confirmed that 18 mission will start and 4 by this year Sir, Liberia is the oldest independent country established in 1847 by the Afro-Americans who shook off the yoke of slavery ,freed themselves and returned to their ancestral continent and set up Liberia, the very name is evocative of its history. India and Liberia share a spirit of freedom and independence. In West Africa Liberia has a relatively sizable Indian community, all in white collar pursuits all self-employed and living in harmony with Liberian people and governments.

We earnestly submit this request that Government of India implement the public announcement of Honorable Prime Minister, to open resident Indian missions in Liberia at the earliest where local honorary consul   are representing India. Liberia deserves priority for an Indian mission.

Opening an Indian mission in Liberia is a force multiplier in bilateral relations and game changer in realizing full potential of economic relations with trade quadrupling in 2 - 3 years.

Respectfully
