Protect Elanda Point as Declared Fish Habitat A
This petition had 1,201 supporters
There is a proposed management level downgrade – Noosa River declared fish habitat area.
Proposal by Eco Camp Pty Ltd (Discovery group) to downgrade 2.6 hectares in the Noosa River declared fish habitat area at Elanda, from a management A area to a management B area, in order to allow them to build a Jetty off the beach at Elanda Point. This is the Noosa Everglades a UNESCO declared Biosphere Reserve where 44% of Australia's birds are found as visitors and permanent residents. Because 65% the Noosa Everglades is in a protected area, this area has been described as one of the most pristine wetlands in the world. We cannot start to downgrade pristine areas such as this when there have been proposals to upgrade this area to world heritage.
This area must be maintained at least as a declared fish habitat. Please sign the petition to help keep the Noosa Everglades pristine, safe and sustainable. By signing this petition we are asking Dr Steven Miles, the state Environment Minister to support QLD fisheries to maintain the area as a Declared Fish Habitat Area Management A.
